Six UK publishers built a curation alliance. What Atria says about where premium inventory is going

According to Programmatic Spain, Atria, launched in February by Hearst UK, Bauer Media, Immediate, Future, HELLO! and Time Out, gathers 105 digital brands and 33 million unique monthly visitors, over 60% of the UK online audience. Buyers get curated display and video inventory, first-party segments built with Permutive, and a single PMP or deal ID that spans all the properties.

Each publisher keeps its own pricing and gives the curated deals priority inside its SSP waterfall; if the deals draw no bids, the inventory drops to the open auction. Data stays with each publisher, with no cross-exposure. High-impact formats and attention metrics come through Adnami. By late May about a dozen campaigns had run, and Princess Cruises reported click-through rates 40% above its usual upper-funnel campaigns.

The interesting part is who curates. For years curation happened on the buy side, with intermediaries selecting inventory and keeping the margin. Atria puts the selection in the publishers' hands and sells the package under their names.

That is the model we run for sites that do not have six publishing groups behind them: one counterparty that negotiates demand per format, keeps the publisher's pricing and data where they are, and adds inventory instead of repackaging what already sells. Curation as a service, on the publisher's side of the table.
